Social Work

Are you in the middle of studying social work, looking for a special experience abroad or simply interested in learning more about this field? In this project you will find many opportunities to learn all about social work.

CWCD is a non-governmental and non-profit organization that was founded in 1995 and has grown over the years.

The aim of CWCD is to promote and protect the human rights of disadvantaged women, children and youth and to promote capacity building of community-based structures to ensure sustainable development in Tanzania.

You work in the following areas:

  • Microfinance (they have more than 20 groups)

  • Early Childhood Development (ECD)

  • Capacity building

  • Promotion of health education and gender equality

  • Social services

  • HIV/AIDS prevention and mitigation

  • Integration of people / children with disabilities

As a participant, you can take part in and contribute to various CWCD projects depending on your interests. CWCD’s various teams work not only in the city of Arusha, but also in rural areas, Masai villages, etc. Each project is monitored and evaluated.

CWCD also works with public schools where school clubs are organized. Parent education, primary crime/violence prevention, income generation, life skills training and much more is also offered.

The multi-professional team at CWCD consists of 12 employees and the teachers at the school. The employees have the following Bachelor degrees:

  • B.Sc Social Work (Social Work)

Advancement of women

Are you ready to unleash your powerful impact and change mindsets and opportunities for our strong women in Tanzania? Whether you are passionate about promoting positive outcomes for women or a solo female traveler looking for a meaningful volunteer opportunity.

Our projects for women focus on educational work, life skills, crafts and much more.
You will also learn a lot about women’s rights in Tanzania and how we are trying to change that.

Children with special needs

Are you an empathetic and patient person who is interested in bringing your positive and loving impact to our children with special needs in our schools?

We would love to welcome you! Especially if you are interested in this subject, during your studies or if you are already a vocational teacher. You will support them in their daily tasks, including serving food, self-care, physiotherapy, education, vocational skills and much more.

We are especially looking for: People who have experience with children suffering from autism or have studied about it. Tanzania lacks good therapy and knowledge about autism, and we would greatly appreciate it if you would join our project and make a difference.

Teaching

Are you looking to get to know the education system in Tanzania or make your own contribution with your experience? Then this project is the right place for you.

Whether you are already a qualified teacher, still studying or starting as a volunteer teacher fresh out of school, you will gain valuable experience and have the opportunity to work with qualified teachers to improve your knowledge and teach your skills at the same time. You will help to improve English spelling, boost your students‘ confidence and professional skills. You are also free to learn and improve your Swahili skills.

You are completely free to decide what age you want to work with! We have classes from baby class to youth class. You are also welcome to vary between classes.
